The Atlanta Open had over 162 players last weekend making it the biggest draw in the history of the event. Players brought their families to watch and enjoy the festivities filling the squash hall with 250+ players and spectators all weekend.

Players from all over the world competed in the 13th Atlanta Open at the new Life Time Athletic Atlanta facility in Sandy Springs.

Omar Abdel Meguid celebrated the sixth PSA World Tour title of his career when he beat fellow Egyptian Andrew Wagih Shoukry in the final of the Atlanta Open, the PSA Challenger 10 event in its 13th year at the Lifetime Athletic Club in Atlanta in the US state of Georgia.

The fourth seed from Giza showed no effects of tiredness from his 100-minute semi-final upset the previous day over second-seeded Canadian Shawn Delierre.

"The first two games were close but in the third Omar raced to a 9-5 lead when Omar collided in the back of Andrew to give him an injury time out," explained tournament promoter Andre Maur. "Wagih never recovered and lost the game 11-5 to give Omar his first Atlanta Open title."

The amateur tournament started on Friday with everyone receiving a tournament photo shoot, new Dunlop Aerogel Gregory Gaultier racket or Biometric CX Tour valued at $199, event shirt and a Dunlop grip. Players enjoyed a catered Italian dinner by Brio on Saturday, lunch provided by Subway on Friday, breakfast Friday and Saturday by Atlanta Bread Company, a players VIP party at Atlanta's hot nite club 3 Sheets with free entry and drinks and a Sunday desserts at the finals. Stiegl beer and Gatorade were provided for the weekend and not forgetting viewing of all the pro games. An absolute bargain that everyone one got and I am sure everyone will be back for the next event on the Life Time Grand Prix Tour which will be in Houston on March 29th-31st and Vegas May 10th-12th, Tempe Arizona in September and Chicago in October.
