Atlanta takes to the British Open

Atlanta’s Michael Gough and Andre Maur traveled to the British Open in October, carrying the battle flag of the Confederacy against the Union Jack.

Michael played his way to the semis of the 65s, losing to eventual winner Patrick Kirton in three. In the quarters, however, he played a marathon five-gamer against John Preston, winning the first two games 9-2, 9-2 then dropping the next two 7-9 and 9-10. It was overtime again in the fifth game, with our Mr. Gough winning the last point to take the match at 10-8. “It went on for 66 fricking minutes,” he said at the press conference afterwards. “I thought: if I lose I can’t face anyone.”
