Junior Spotlight - Henry Harris

Henry Harris - WestministerQ: At what age did you start playing squash?

I started playing when I was about 12.

Q: Why did you start playing?

I was over at a friend's house and he asked if I wanted to go play and I, being open to something new (having never heard of squash before), decided to go.

Q: How many times a week do you play?

From there my passion for the game took off and now I play around 5 times a week.

Q: What is your biggest accomplishment with squash?

In terms of my accomplishments, fortunately I feel like I have come a long way in my playing, but by far my best accomplishment has to be winning the National Championship with my high school, Westminster, this past year at Yale.

Q: Who is your favorite PSA player/role model?

I have watched some PSA in the past, quite good if you are looking for an inspirational pump up, though my knowledge of the association is not quite deep enough to have a pure favorite, however, watching the pros play, especially Jonathan Power, is very entertaining.

Q: Current School?

Currently I attend the Westminster Schools in Atlanta GA.

Q: What do you like most about squash?

What I like most about squash is the competitiveness, knowing that you are always in a match no matter what. Also the fact that it is a life sport. I will be playing this, hopefully, into at least my 50's.

Q: Who is/are your coach/s?

Throughout my experience, I have been blessed with many coaches, but I owe my true improvement to Tom Rumpler, the head pro at the Midtown Athletic Club. He one of the coaches, along with Rick Byrd, at Westminster and I have taken more than a few grueling but helpful lessons with him.

Q: Other comments?

To all the kids out there who are looking for a great game for life, and won't be discouraged by their friends who have never heard of it, squash is the game for you!
